Leisure Craft is a deeply personal photographic exploration of the often overlooked yet profound social isolation experienced by seafarers. The project investigates the lived experiences of those who spend extended periods at sea, distanced from familial ties, community networks, and the familiar sensory and emotional anchors of domestic existence.
As seafarers spend long periods away from home, their sense of identity often becomes intertwined with the transient nature of their work. Despite these challenges, they develop unique ways to cope with isolation—whether through camaraderie with fellow crew members, creative pursuits, or simply looking forward to the day they can return home.
Leisure Craft aims to raise awareness of the challenges faced by maritime workers—a group often overlooked in conversations about social isolation.
